【Kenya】Sports Exchange Programs put on to mark the occasion of organising the ‘Japan/Africa Student Innovator Expo’, an official TICAD VI side event

On 25 August, 2016, the ‘Young Africa and Nihon Innovators EXPO (YANIE) Welcome Reception’ was held as an official side event of TICAD VI supported by the association, table tennis balls were donated to the Kenya Table Tennis Association, as well as the table tennis section of the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology of (JKUAT). Plus, as part of the visit for the students participating in YANIE, footballs and shirts were donated during a visit to the Mainstream Sports Academy; affiliated with the national Kenya Volleyball Team and run by Mr. Edinah.
On 25 August, 2016, the ‘Young Africa and Nihon Innovators EXPO (YANIE) Welcome Reception’, which was held as an official side event of TICAD VI, a total of 185 participants; university officials, members from the association and related companies, Kenya Table Tennis Association officials and Ashinaga officials including the holding of a donation ceremony.As well as the association providing a total number of 144 tennis balls supplied by Tamas, Co. Ltd. to the Kenya Table Tennis Association and the JKUAT table tennis section, it provided a further three table tennis rackets, while Ashinaga provided 6 table tennis balls to the Uganda Kids Scholarship Foundation.
Moreover, on 27th at YANIE, the itinerary of the 10 Japanese students in Kenya participated in the Mainstream Sports Academy and the slums. Watching young people aged from 6 to 20 practicing football, they donated 11 football shirts and 5 footballs.
On both days of the event, as well as words of thanks from a representative of the donor organisation, local people expressed their gratitude through the sporting contributions made by Japan.
