Tsukuba University, with the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) conducted Nanairo Ekiden in Rio de Janeiro. Also, visiting local elementary and junior high schools, Tsukuba University students conducted an Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP) for the local children in Brazil.

Through Ekiden, which is a Japanese traditional sport, the Ekiden championships aimed to carry a message of friendship and inclusion (note 1) on a sash from Rio 2016 to Tokyo 2020 and for posterity as a tangible legacy for the future to come. It represents our enthusiasm to ensure all participants, sharing various values of support (excellence, friendship, respect, courage, determination, cheer, equality) by enjoying sports with various persons who have various backgrounds such as r, race, religion, disabilities and economic disparity.
