We established a sports day which tested participants’ ‘running’ abilities from a physical education perspective as well as the three English skills of ‘reading’, ‘writing’ and ‘listening’. At the sports day, as well as announcing the everyday learning results (English), the targeted goals included ‘developing autonomy’ and ’coordinating development’ of the students, and the winner of each race was honoured with an original origami medal, with a total of 170 such medals handed out.

The lower primary grades (1st to 3rd years) created an event combining a ‘Foot Race’ and ‘Listening’ exercise, while older students, from grades 4 to 7 set up three events: ‘Group Event’, ’Pair Event’ and ’Individual Event’, with all students taking part in two events. As a result, it emerged as a good opportunity for the students to learn ‘Enjoyment while cooperating with peers to strive toward to the goal’ and ‘The sense of accomplishment from cooperating’.

Feedback from Local Contacts :

What was learned during the activity also remained in the children’s minds after the event. We were able to give the children self-confidence, a sense of accomplishment and joy. Having reached this point, we learned that this is what people could call a successful event.
