During the 2016 World Table Tennis Championships at Kuala Lumpur, we hosted an exhibition match featuring Miu Hirano and Ibrahim Hamadtou (Egypt).
We hosted an exhibition match by Miu Hirano, the 2014 ITTF World Tour grand final doubles winner and second-placed in the 2016 All Japan Table Tennis Championships and Ibrahim Hamadtou (Egypt), who lost both arms in an accident but kept playing table tennis by holding the racket in his mouth, was invited to the 2014 World Table Tennis Championships, Tokyo. We also engaged in interaction with local children via table tennis. During the event, Miu Hirano and Ibrahim Hamadtou were asked questions about their goals for the future, and their hobbies outside table tennis, etc. Children took the chance to get to know both players better through the event.Feedback from Local Contacts :
Miu Hirano Ibrahim Hamadtou was a great player. I also felt that table tennis was a sport that could be enjoyed by everyone regardless of disabilities. In future I want to win a gold medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Ibrahim Hamadtou Thank you very much for the opportunity you gave me this time. It’s a great honor to be able to play a top player like Miu Hirano. I would like to keep practicing and participate in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics/Paralympics. President of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Mr. Thomas Weikert Miu Hirano, Ibrahim Hamadtou and the kids in Malaysia all performed impressively. Table tennis in Japan is a traditional sport and Japanese players have great medal chances, so I would like the Japan Sport Council to enhance the value of sports through table tennis. I think that would be really wonderful for us too.
