JAPAN SPORT COUNCIL once again commissioned NPO, Japan Sports Communications to hold sports days at schools in Thailand and Laos and carried out trials for the “UNDOKAI (Sports Day)” to determine the possibility for its popularization in the future. In preparation for the “UNDOKAI” students and teachers were told of the importance of helping one another during the competition and how important it is for the whole community to come together with the participation of parents and caregivers. By taking the local customs and culture of each country and putting them together the Japanese sports day, the event brought smiles to both children and adults. In addition to holding the “UNDOKAI” in each country a hearing was also held to discuss methods and systems for the encouragement of local ownership and to ensure that the support given is not short-lived.
Feedback from :
Many new ideas such as “Let’s invite nearby schools for interschool competitions”, “Why not make it a community event?” and “I would like to incorporate the games used in the sports day into the PE class” were put forward at the hearing held together with caregivers and those connected to the schools. We look forward to seeing these ideas being carried out.
