During “Yokohama International Festa 2015” held in Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture to convey ”international cooperation” and ”multicultural coexistence ”, we held an event dealing with worldwide Onigokko (tag games) in the world and forged an opportunity for intercultural international exchange. Nana Inoue, a female national team representative member of Sports Onigokko, of our association, was also involved and successfully guided both Japanese and overseas Festa participants about Onigokko, and deepened international exchanges.
For the stage program, Japanese children taking part could experience ‘Kubaara’, a tag game originating in Madagascar, Africa presented by participants from Senegal who also taking part in the Festa. Beyond borders, encompassing a multi-generational game of tag, people came together with each other and smiles were shared. In addition, in the fixed booth program, games of tag originating from the UK and Thailand proved a great success.Feedback from :
”Onigokko” is a perfect fit for the “Yokohama International Festa” venue, an annual event to promote ”international cooperation” and ” multicultural coexistence ”. Our relationship with the Festa began in 2010, and this year, with a stage program also including Africa, they introduced African Onigokko tag games called ”Kubaara”. It was wonderful to see people of all ages, old and young, beyond borders and both Japanese and foreigners enjoying Onigokko tag games that they first knew as children and moving their bodies. I sincerely hope that Onigokko will help bring peace on Earth.
