The student group, Share Playing Sports Around the World (SPW) conducts activities for elementary school students in Japan and overseas based on the idea of sharing the joy of sports with children around the world.
Since 2013, we have been holding sporting events at elementary schools in Laos every March. The equipment used was donated with athletic clothing so that children could continue to enjoy sports after the event.
Based on their interests, we divided the children into three groups, mainly soccer, volleyball, and ultimate frisbee, and played different sports. At the end of the event, we all played the same sport together. The children worked on every sport with smiles on their faces. I hope that the children will learn a lot by enjoying sports and make use of them in various situations in the future to create a better world.
In a questionnaire conducted after the event, about 95% of all children answered that they like sports.
