This projects’ aim was to shed light on Japanese expertise in the field of physical education since 2017 with the purpose of developing the skills of PE teachers in Peru. In collaboration with Hiroshima University and Hiroshima Prefecture educators, Peruvian educators were invited every year and Japanese experts were dispatched from Japan to introduce lesson studies.
Due to the coronavirus infection, it has become difficult to travel between the two countries this year. Therefore, the project members from Japan and Peru spent three months preparing and held a total of three online lesson study workshops. On the first day, the Japanese side took the lead, and Mr. Suzuki, the Commissioner of the Japan Sports Agency, and Professor Kazuhiko Saito of Hiroshima University gave greetings. The speaker, Dr. Minori Okade of Nippon Sport Science University, gave a presentation on "Physical Education in Japan", and Dr. Tomoya Shiraishi of Hiroshima Bunka Gakuen, on behalf of the co-presenter, Dr. Yoshimi Yamahira of International Budo University made a presentation about "foreign lesson study". In addition, the Hiroshima Prefectural Board of Education and Professor Ken Mitsuhashi answered questions from Peru. On the 27th, Peru made a presentation about the lesson study in Peru that they had built up with Japanese experts.
