Japan Sport Council (JSC) members visited Zambia for the second time as a follow-up of the project implemented in July. Training sessions were held on the I’mPOSSIBLE textbook, inviting teachers. The objective of the visit was to develop human resources and leaders for spreading Paralympic education in Zambia.
The I’mPOSSIBLE textbook was developed by the Agitos Foundation, which is in charge of the development work of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). Two training sessions on this textbook were held for teachers over a period of two days. Six teachers selected from the participants of the previous training sessions, conducted by the JSC in July, acted as facilitators in some parts of the training sessions this time. Aside from the training sessions, participants visited two primary schools and one junior high school where classes were conducted using the I’mPOSSIBLE textbook. Furthermore, at a parasports festival, JSC members provided information on how to supervise a parasport event. Many children enjoyed trying out boccia and goal ball. We hope Zambia will spread and promote education on the Paralympic movement and inclusive community through collaboration with NPC Zambia, local trainers and related organizations.Feedback from Participant :
The programme was excellent and very informative. I hope this type of training will be conducted on a continuous basis. This is worth introducing into the school curriculum.
