Coaching of representative athletes and exchange games were conducted in Danang City and Ho Chi Minh City. Table tennis was introduced to children by visiting kindergartens, and table tennis exchanges and model performances were conducted at facilities for disabled persons. Table tennis equipment (second-hand goods) were also provided.

During a visit to Bhutan and table tennis exchange in January, I felt that there was a shortage of balls.

In Japanese practice, it is common to use numerous balls and hit them continuously in order to practice efficiently. Since there are few balls in Bhutan, however, if you miss while practicing with a single ball, you have to go and pick it up, so it is not possible to practice hitting balls continuously. Even if you are able to hit the ball continuously to some degree and to get a feel for the ball and if the teaching person wants to convey skills at most appropriate time, the practice will stop.

I thought that this would reduce the pace of improvement by half and felt that balls are essential to improve technical abilities, so after returning to Japan, I decided to provide additional support. Since one of the people who accompanied me works in import/export, I was able to obtain information about shipping goods to Bhutan, and after returning to Japan, was able to ship balls to Bhutan effectively.　

After returning to Japan, I learned that what may be thought of as commonplace in Japan is not really commonplace. I also reaffirmed that we must take care of things on a daily basis and conduct practice with feelings of gratitude. I hope that the balls will be used for the development of table tennis in Bhutan.
