Pakistan still has a long way to go in gymnastics, and Pakistani gymnasts were invited to Japan to observe the gymnastics environment and for athletes to receive guidance. A training camp was held with emphasis on athletes and coaches learning Japanese training methods to enhance the future competitiveness of the Pakistani athletes with an eye towards the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. One of the objectives of the invitation was to provide a safe training environment for athletes from a country where it is difficult to secure a proper environment due to social instability.

Training sessions: morning 10:00 - 11:30, afternoon 14:30 - 17:30
Training details: As described below
Morning: Warm up with consideration to the unique characteristics of gymnasts (30 minutes), tumbling trampoline (30 minutes), vault skill acquisition (30 minutes)
Afternoon: Warm up (30 minutes), tumbling trampoline (20 minutes), vault skill acquisition (30 minutes), floor exercise, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bars skill acquisition (90 minutes; 2 to 3 events selected each day), cooldown (10 minutes)

-A lecture was given on the importance of flexibility, which is particularly important.
-Guidance and advice were provided on new techniques and techniques that have been employed until now.
-The new rules that have been applied since 2017 were explained and understanding was deepened through actual exercises.

Feedback from Participant :

I am grateful to Japan for this valuable opportunity. The training environment is not well developed in Pakistan. Because of this, it is difficult for athletes to maintain motivation. The athletes obtained wonderful experiences in Japan, and I expect that their approach to gymnastics will change in the future. Observing the performance of top-level athletes in the Japan Championships was inspiring. It was a wonderful training camp.
