We held the first soccer clinic in Trashigang and Mongar, which are located in the eastern part of the Kingdom of Bhutan, to promote soccer and physical education. Five members of the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers' physical education and elementary school education teams worked mainly in the two eastern schools where there was not enough physical education equipment.
This soccer clinic was initiated to educate and deliver soccer balls to children in Bhutan with the donation of soccer balls from Mr. Hiroshi Ohashi, President of IPU International Pacific University (Okayama Prefecture).
Through the clinic, children and students were able to experience not only the improvement of soccer skills, but also the educational growth in the physical education department, such as team cooperation, familiarity with exercise, and a positive attitude during gameplay. The students who touched the ball for the first time restlessly chased the ball with a smile.

Comments from Mr. Wandy Tayu, Teacher, Gontun Elementary and Junior High School:
Through the clinic, the students seem to be growing up as human beings, and I am very grateful. We hope that such programs will continue to take place throughout Bhutan.
