An international symposium was held to provide an opportunity to think of ways in which sports can contribute to developing nations, and deepen the understanding of the "Sports for Tomorrow" model with background and overview of its implementation by people in Japan’s sports world.

Pre-events included business sessions and subcommittee meetings. The keynote speech was presented by the former vice-chair of the Japan Society of Sport Sociology, followed by a discussion with panelists from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, JICA, experts from the medical and health sectors of developing countries, and J-League, which deepened the understanding about the background of Sports for Tomorrow and its current status.
