On the occasion of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020, Fukuoka Prefecture is promoting international exchange through sports. In 2019, one year before the Games, the Prefecture held the Asian-Pacific Children’s Convention in Fukuoka as part of the International Children’s Sports Conference project. At this conference, children from the participating countries exchanged opinions on sports and conducted sports meets.
At the International Children’s Sports Conference, children representing the participating countries discussed in English the power of sports. They also prepared a Children’s Sport Declaration stating the excitement, courage, and respect for others generated through sports expressed from the perspective of children. The Children’s Sport Declaration was announced at the closing ceremony of the sports meets and adopted by the children from all of the participating countries.The Children’ Sport Declaration will be announced to all of the participating countries in the coming days in order to convey the wonder of sports and enhance the power of children.
