The Clark Memorial International High School Yokohama Campus Global Sports Major nurtures people capable of proving themselves in this global and multi-cultural world. To achieve this goal, we are engaged in sports exchange events with people from various backgrounds as well as Project-Based Learning (PBL) to solve social challenges through sports. As part of our activities, we have developed and organised a unique online programme called Online Undokai (athletic meet) featuring athletic games which can be played in the COVID-19 environment. This time, we created a new version for people overseas, incorporating six games adapted from the programme.

As part of our PBL, we learned that in Nepal, public schools have been locked down for a year as a measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19, depriving students of sufficient education. We also found that students lack sufficient opportunities to develop their non-cognitive abilities, because physical education is not included in Nepal’s education system. So, we decided to address these two challenges through sports. A team of our high school students led this project.

In the project, the content of the Online Undokai programme, which can be practiced in the COVID-19 environment, was adapted so that people overseas can also participate and enjoy. Through online activities incorporating team-building elements via Zoom, we would like to contribute to solving problems facing elementary, junior high and high school students in Nepal.
