We invited students equivalent to junior high students in Japan from the Pacific Island nations (Fiji, Samoa and Tonga) participating in the 2019 Rugby World Cup (2019 RWC). The delegation took part in our international exchange programme visiting two junior high schools in Higashi Osaka, the host city of the 2019 RWC in Osaka, where they enjoyed playing tag rugby with Japanese students of the same age.

They watched the 2019 RWC at the stadium and also cheered for the players from the public viewing area. Furthermore, they visited the Kintetsu Liners of the Top Challenge League. The programme provided the students an experience to learn more about the 2019 RWC and its legacy.

I felt much closer to the Rugby World Cup through the programme. I also noticed that the Japanese students are polite and respect one another. I hope I can come back to Japan to make many friends and play rugby together in the future.
