Provides the youth and children of the Philippines who are struggling under poverty or other complicated circumstances with the knowledge and perspective on leadership and gender equality through the sport of tag rugby, and educational programs that help them acquire daily life skills.
Coach-trained youth led all 16 programs for rugby teams composed of children. In August 2017, all teams participated in games, which also featured instructions by Masatoshi Mukoyama and Atsushi Moriya, both former national rugby players, Mifuyu Koide and Natsuki Tanaka, both Japanese rugby players who competed in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics. At the closing event in November, players reflected on their experiences, shared what they learned from then and their future ambitions. The projects are still underway in Laos and Vietnam.Feedback from Participant :
“I felt a sense of accomplishment in seeing the children carry out the life skill lessons I taught them. I realized that nothing can be achieved without effort, and I am considering finishing school, which I dropped out of.” (Coach, 19 years old) “The Japanese rugby instructors were kind and polite. I thought that they embraced the five values of rugby.” (Player, 16 years old)
