The Kyoto Marathon has been organized every year since the first competition was carried out in March 2012.
Participants, supporters, and citizens got together, as the citizen runners ran through the metropolitan road in Kyoto during this event. They ran to promote sports, health and revitalize the Kyoto economy and improve the Kyoto brand.

There are many tourist attractions in Kyoto, including seven world cultural heritage sites. The runners enjoyed the cultural and tourist attractions on the road as many foreigners participate in this event every year.
