In Taiwan, individual sports, such as track and field, and cycling, are popular among people with intellectual disabilities. As we wanted them to enjoy football as well and also wanted to build a foundation for future exchanges, we had a two-day event for volunteers and football classes with the slogan of “having fun.”

On each day of the two-day event, a video was played for university students to deepen their understanding of football for people with disabilities and raise their awareness of the importance of bringing out the best from the players, praising them to make them confident and high fiving them with smiles. As an icebreaker, participants from special-needs schools, etc., and university students were paired together to play chase tag and catch in various ways. They were always high-fiving each other. In the afternoon, the participants played mini games with university students or by using advice from university students. There was much applause, cheering and smiles from parents and school staff who were watching their fine or unusual plays.
