Japan and Brazil signed a partnership agreement back in Oct. 2016 to promote advancements in sports/PE fields and currently implementing Judo classes to school PE in Brazil since Judo is a martial art started in Japan which helps development of various aspects of human assets. The first imitative in this project was to invite 7 Brazilian Judo coaches to Japan for 25 days and provide them lectures/practical sessions/related facility visits with Tsukuba University as its physical hub. We conducted as many as 38 programs including lectures about PE system in Japan and how to teach safety aspects. Practical sessions included role-playing of classes and the visits including observing actual school PE classes/school sports club activities, visiting dojos in communities and seeing Judo tournaments. The participated Judo coaches from Brazil got various insights and practical know-hows from the current status of how Japanese school PE is incorporating Judo in its system.
