Leveraging the collaborative relationship with Sports Singapore (SSG), which is a government agency, the Japan Sport Council sent two executive board members from the Institute for Square Stepping Exercise. Their visits were to share the knowledge that Japan has for the SSG exercise programme and website. As a result of the discussions with SSG members, square stepping exercise would officially be included in the national exercise programme of Singapore.

The project offered Japanese sport content to be customised locally. During their visits to Singapore in April and August, executive board members of the Institute for Square Stepping Exercise introduced square stepping exercise and held meetings with SSG members. An agreement was signed in August between the Institute of Square Stepping Exercise and the SSG stating the introduction of square stepping exercise into the SSG exercise programme. Square stepping exercise will be conducted in sports facilities managed and operated by the SSG. Furthermore, instructors’ workshops were held with the instructor’s certificate issued by the Institute of Square Stepping Exercise to permanent staff members at sports facilities where square stepping exercise would be conducted. We hope square stepping exercise will become more popular in Singapore.
