The training sessions on the Japanese Radio-Taiso in Peru in June 2019 promoted understanding of local people about the characteristics, significance and favourable effects from doing the Radio-Taiso daily. Upon request from the Peruvian Ministry of Education and educational institutions in Lima, we conducted sessions in Peru again in September 2019.

The Peruvian Ministry of Education requested us to introduce the Radio-Taiso as a warm-up exercise before the opening ceremony of the national sports competition, Juegos Deportivos Escolares Nacionales 2019, based on the Radio-Taiso concept meeting the Peruvian Ministry’s health enhancement educational goal. Two instructors from the Japan Radio-Taiso Federation demonstrated the Radio-Taiso with 24 students from Juana Alarco de Dammert, a state-run girls’ kindergarten, primary, secondary and high school, who attended the training event held in June, in front of athletes from all over Peru.

This time, we also gave training sessions to introduce Radio-Taiso at special-needs schools and the National Rehabilitation Centre at the request of Peru to realise an inclusive society.




Feedback from Local Contacts :

- It was a very valuable opportunity for the students at our school to experience a different culture through Radio-Taiso. The children were further motivated to do Radio-Taiso because they were given an opportunity to demonstrate their achievement in Radio-Taiso to the instructors from Japan. As a pilot school for the Radio-Taiso, we will continue to do exercises as a 10-minute activity in the morning and as a warm-up exercise before physical education classes. I hope that the Radio-Taiso will contribute to promoting more active cultural exchange between Peru and Japan. -The RadioTaiso showed people in Peru the significance of exercising too, where exercise is not regarded as very important. I learned many new things from the second training session. I’m planning to hold sessions for physical education teachers in our region so that they will be able to incorporate the Radio-Taiso into their school programmes.(Physical education specialist at the 07 local education department of Lima)
