Through the following support activities, we have contributed to improving the quality of Tanzanian judo.

◆ Soft aspect
-We held referee training sessions and worked to improve the skills of Tanzanian referees.
-We held a Tanzania weight-based championship and worked to improve the level of judo throughout Tanzania.

◆ Hard aspect
-We donated 167 tatami mats and 50 judo robes.
-The Judo Practice Center (Dojo) was constructed in collaboration with the workplace of JICA volunteers and JICA Tanzania.

Since there is no judo tatami mat in Tanzania, we used a place where rice husks were covered with a sheet or a rubber plate. Athletes were frequently injured and had poor judo posture. Thanks to the donations of 167 tatami mats from the All Japan Judo Federation, NPO Judo Education Solidarity, and Tokai University's Hosei High School, injuries to athletes have been reduced and their posture has improved significantly. We also held referee training sessions and national conventions in Tanzania.

By supporting Tanzania Judo from the soft and hard sides, we can contribute to the development of judo in Tanzania and expect to develop athletes who can participate in the Tokyo 2020 Games.

Feedback from Participant :

-The risk of injury has been reduced, and athletes can now practice safely.
-The refereeing class deepened my understanding of the rules. The practice of wearing judo clothing was very easy to understand.
-A wonderful Dojo has been completed. I would like to do my best to contribute to the development of Judo in Tanzania. We will be able to hold joint exercises throughout Tanzania, and we will work hard every day so that we can participate in the Tokyo 2020 Games.
