This tournament aims to be more than simply a competitive tournament by providing participating athletes and staff with an opportunity to engage in international exchange and get to know about life in Japan and its culture. This will foster respect for one another and cultivate the cheerleading spirit of supporting others. A workshop for international qualified referees was also be held before the tournament to improve Asia’s level of cheerleading.
Number of participating nations, regions, teams and athletes: Indonesia, Korea,Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong (5 nations and 2 regions), 36 teams, around 400 participants (109 Japanese teams, 1,260 people)The regulation of the competition: The tournament’s rules conform to the international competitive rules of cheerleading, and teams will compete to be Asia’s No. 1 based on their total score over two days’ competitions in the three areas of freestyle performance, group stunts, and paired stunts.

＜Overseas athlete’s comments:＞
This was the first time I’d performed at a tournament in Japan, but all the staff were very kind and we were able to perform without any worries. During the tournament we were able to interact with many Japanese athletes, and I was very happy that many people supported us during our performance.
The Japan team has a very high technical ability, and they seem to practice a great deal every day. I will make the most of what I have learned through this experience, and will work hard to improve the technical standards of cheerleading when I return to my own country.

I visited Japan this year to watch the tournament in the run-up to the preparations for the World Championship this November.
The tournament in Japan was managed by the executive committee, and it was run very smoothly. It was a wonderful tournament because the athletes fully exhibited the unique character of cheerleading, as they supported and cheered for one another.
I want to make the most of this opportunity, and lead November’s World Championship to success.
